About Flo Harris Lodge

It now houses around 45 students each year, who are given the opportunity to grow in their Christian faith and witness, or to encounter the Gospel in the context of a Christian community.

Most of our residents are between 18 and 24, and often come from regional Australia, but we also host international students from overseas. Most are beginning tertiary studies, or starting at a job in Sydney.

About the role

The Primary Chaplain plays a vital role in making FHL a vibrant, connected and gracious community by:

  • offering pastoral care and support to all residents;
  • encouraging community through informal interaction and organising events;
  • enabling non-Christian residents to hear the Gospel and explore faith-related questions;
  • equipping Christian residents to better know and follow Jesus
  • leading the Flo Harris Lodge staff team (including the Secondary Chaplain, and Business and Finance Manager); and
  • conducting necessary administrative duties and oversight.

The Primary Chaplain is expected to live on-site at FHL in accommodation provided, and to commit to attending Petersham Baptist Church.

This role will commence at a date to be negotiated in December 2023, in preparation for the 2024 university study year.
